Buffet meals are prepared together with the Miiraku women association using local produce in their traditional way of cooking
Goto Udon, Simmered hijiki (brown seaweed), Sansai (Mountain Vegetables) Tempura and other seasonal foods with over 40 types on offer.
In addition to the local menu, Curry, Macaroni au gratin and Pasta are also made to order in Western style for a balanced meal.

In addition to Goto udon, camellia oil, half-dried fish, potato shochu (Japanese liquor distilled from sweet potatoes) and wheat shochu produced in the Goto islands are available. Here, you can purchase a wide range of seafood and vegetables from the Goto islands, which are all suitable for gifts and souvenirs.

We invite you to witness the exciting and thrilling Kentoshi Envoys and People of Miiraku displayed on the big screen.

The deep history of Miiraku-cho (including the Kentoshi Envoy and Manyo Poems) are available on original video software with historical references of Miiraku. Title includes “The Tale of the Kentoshi Envoys” and “Ikishi Araora (The Story of Brave men)”, both of which are set in Miiraku in the Manyo era. Please come enjoy rhythmic doll animation and Manyo Poem Fantasia painstakingly made from paper-cutout picture scrolls. Your gateway to ancient Miiraku.

In “The Tale of the Kentoshi Envoys”, the animated adventure story, a life-sized robot modeled after the Missionary Priest Kukai speaks to audience directly as a narrator.

Feel free to peruse the historical materials about the Kentoshi Envoys.

Miiraku was the last port of call before the Envoy ships left Japan. And It was a place that dealt with the Envoys a great deal. In the Exhibition corner, discover the various points of interest including documents about the Kentoshi and Miiraku traditional songs in the Manyo Poems and others.

Stained-glass with Goto historial motifs

The very beautiful Stained-glass representing the Kentoshi Envoys travelling across the vast open seas to Tang Dynasty China as well as the nature of the Goto islands. You can see the beautiful nature of Miiraku-cho from the observatory.
